Games 2016: gross collection at 95 billion, the Italians spent 18,5 billion

Eighteen billion and a half: it is what Italians spent in public games during 2016 – according to GiocoNews.it data – compared with a total collection of gaming industry of € 95 billion. In 2015 the net expenditure of Italian players reached 17,1 billion with a gross collection of 88 billion. So the "expenditure" increase has been of 8.3%. Considering the resident population (50,6 million), each Italian person of age in 2016 spent on average €365 in games, one euro per day. The eighteen billion and a half essentially represent the amount really collected by the State, (10 billion) and operators (8.5 billion). Overall bets – the gross collection which also includes winnings – are much higher and this year reach 95 billion, but this date is largely affected by the replay mechanism, in particular in the online sector: the player, using again his winnings, ends up to handle very high amounts, souring gross collection, without affecting the real expenditure. THE NEW RECORS: 10 BILLION FOR THE STATE (+24%) - Ten billion to the State of 18,5 billion of net collection. An absolute record marking a growth – according to the Agipronews processing – of 24% compared to 8 billion collected by the State in 2015. if we do the math, we have an increase of two billion. The withdrawal of 10 billion for the State, compared to 18,5 collected by the operators, brings to a real rate of 54,5%. In conclusion, every €10, 5,5 of them go to the state vault. Entertainment devices (slots and videolotteries) are contributing the most to the revenue, of 58%, totally giving to the State € 5 billion and 850 million. Among them, 4,6 comes from slot machines (+36% compared to 2015). This increase is mainly due to the measures of the Renzi's government, in particular to the significant increase in taxation provided by the 2016 Stability Law and in force since January, the 1th, of last year: the state tax rose from 13% to 17.5% of the collection. Much the same, but in a more attenuated form, for videolotteries, that give to the state 1250 million (+ 13%) by virtue of a withdrawal risen from 5% to 5.5%. The Gioco del Lotto with 1760 million and Gratta e vinci (1375) are between the key factors of state withdrawal, while the Superenalotto gives nearly half a billion euro: 477 million.   Considering the entire volume of bets, corresponding to 95 billion in 2016, almost the half (exactly 51.6%), is secured by slots and videolotteries. However, in percentages the biggest growth is of SuperEnalotto, which this year collects 1 billion and 600 million, compared to the abundant billion in 2015 (+ 52%). Two factors have contributed to keep the collection up: the long search for the "6", ended on October, the 27th, with the big win in Vibo Valentia (163 million), and the right restyling of last February, which assured a richer jackpot and the chance to win even with "2". Strong increase of sports betting, which have collected 7 billion and a half (+ 34%), strong growth also for online casino games (including cash and tournament poker) rose to 15 billion and 600 million (+ 19% ). Also the two-digit increase in Lotto's collection is nearly eight billion.
