Pinball: the Italian national team is packing for World Cup 2012

26 May 2012 - 09:35

Everything is almost ready for the new edition of the World Sport Pinball Cup. Within two months  we will return in the States for the edition 2012 of the World Pinball, sheltered this time by the city of Seattle, in the State of Washington. The group of 64 players is almost decided, with the best players coming from 12 different countries ready for the challenge. Only one player lacks, which according to tradition, will be decided only one week before the world race by the linked tournament that will take place in Seattle, on the occasion of the Northwest Pinball Championship.

Everything is ready also in Italy, where the Italian national team of Tecnoplay Team, consisting once again of the couple Daniele Acciari and Nicola Pierobon - number one and two of the Italian ranking and so they have the right of the automatic qualification to the World Cup – is only waiting for the arrival of June to fly to the States searching for glory. Perhaps, repeating the extraordinary experience of two years ago in Minneapolis, when Acciari won the competition coming home with the World Cup, which for the first time in the history of sport pinball, arrived in Europe.
And this year also the Italian team leaves with high hopes as well as the best omens: the amazing form of the multi-decorated Daniele Acciari who won the virtual title of 'best player' in March 2012 thanks to the incredible consecutive results in official tournaments obtained in just 30 days, with three first places in the Italian tournaments of Fontaniva (Pinb'Owl Nest), Rimini (Spring pinball tournament) and Rome (AC / DC Stern launch party organized by the usual Tecnoplay), a second place in the unusual race of the 24 hours of Le Mans and the last, extraordinary success in Holland, where he won the Dutch Pinball Masters, routing the competition of more than 80 players.

But as usual also Nicola Pierobon, the other Italian champion, is in the limelight,  because he's risking to arrive in Seattle a little bit rusty compared to the previous years, due to the noble engagement on a humanitarian project in Colombia that keeps it distant from pinball. But this fact increases the expectations and intensifies, if ever it were needed, the adrenaline in the Paduan player, who's chafing at the thought of participating for the third consecutive time to the World Cup.

Meanwhile, a good training  for our players will be the IPC (Italian pinball championship) of Rovigo, the Italian Pinball Championship, which next week, the last weekend of April, celebrates its fourth edition. The number two Pierobon won't be present, while for Acciari it will be a further test of the first level (it is the most important tournament in Italy) in the attempt to win the only Italian trophy that is still missing in his collection. Waiting to go to win the most important title, which last year he had to leave to the American - just coming from Seattle - Cayle George, who surely will have no intention to renounce to the second win just this year that he's playing for the World Cup at his home. We'll see, the show is assured.
