Bally Technologies’s productw win three highest honors

bally-technologies-logoBally Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BYI), a leader in slots, video machines, casino-management, interactive applications, and networked and server-based systems for the global gaming industry, today announced that Bally products earned three of the four most prestigious awards in the annual “Top 20 Most Innovative Products Awards” competition sponsored by Casino Journal magazine.

The Bally Mobile Platform won the Platinum award, and SKEE-BALL® video slots tied with another company to win the Gold award. SKEE-BALL® also received the prestigious Attendees’ Choice award which is determined by attendees at the annual Gaming Technology Summit, held last week at Green Valley Ranch Resort & Casino in Henderson, Nev.

“We are extremely proud to have our products receive this recognition,” said Bally Technologies’ Senior Vice President of Technology Bryan Kelly. “We have received more than 50 awards for product innovation over the past four years. It speaks volumes about the customer-focused work we do every day and the culture of innovation at Bally Technologies.”

Bally Mobile Platform enables casinos to create custom concierge and employee applications and mobile websites running across all devices from one central content manager, allowing casino personnel to create special content and offers and immediately distribute them to targeted customers and potential customers. Operators may alert players 24 hours a day, seven days a week about special offers, even if they are just driving by the property. Casinos can target content in countless ways – from age to player’s card level, from the month of customers’ birthdays to how far they are from the property.

With this cloud-based solution, operators input the information directly into the content-management system, and Bally’s Mobile Platform translates the information to an iPhone® app, a native Android® app, a native BlackBerry® app, an iPad® app, and even a mobile website that works across hundreds of devices. From there, operators can track how the patrons who receive the information behave, seeing if they react to offers immediately.

SKEE-BALL® brings the arcade favorite SKEE-BALL® game to casinos on Bally’s Pro V32 cabinet. The game includes an interactive bonus feature in which players touch and slide the touch-screen to “roll” the SKEE-BALL®, winning “tickets” that enable them to “Pick a Prize” on the game that reveals credit awards.

Last March, the Bally Mobile Platform and SKEE-BALL® were two of the five Bally products that earned Slot Floor Technology Awards. The Bally Mobile Platform also received second place for Best Customer-Service Technology in the 2011 Gaming & Technology Awards given at last October’s Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas.

Euro 2012 Odds: Value Varies Across Europe

euro2012The Euro 2012 football championships are upon us. Joint hosts Poland take on Greece in the opening game of the tournament on Friday (8 June) in Warsaw. Spain are favourites to retain their Euro crown. But Germany can never be discounted and are second favourites, although Group B looks tough and they will face Denmark, the Netherlands, and Portugal in the group stages.

A look at the betting, however, shows how punters around Europe are getting varying value for their bets largely due to restricted competition or high tax regimes in different markets.

Global Betting and Gaming Consultants has gathered Euro 2012 prices from different firms around Europe for the outright winner market and the 1×2 market for the opening match between Poland and Greece.

In the outright market the offshore prices are generally the best, although they are generally matched by the .IT website for prices at the head of the market.

Punters in Sweden are getting the worst value bet if they gamble with the state monopoly. A winning bet of 10 units on Spain, for example, would see a Swedish gambler collect winnings 8% less than a bet placed with the offshore site.

The poor value of the monopoly is highlighted even more clearly in the 1×2 betting on the opening match between Poland and Greece. The monopoly is pricing up with an overround* of 125.4 compared to 106.1 for the offshore website.

“The research GBGC has undertaken demonstrates the impact that higher tax licensing regimes are having on punters’ value. In some European markets betting online might still provide the convenience for punters but it is no longer providing the value,” stated GBGC Director Lorien Pilling.

“Fortuna, which holds a licence in Poland, is even offering to pay half of the 12% betting tax on stakes that Polish punters pay in an attempt to lure them away from offshore websites. Fortuna is betting to a competitive 108.8 overround too on the opening match.”
