Kate Lampard CBE to address bacta social responsibility exchange

GambleAware Chair Kate Lampard CBE has been named as Keynote Speaker for the inaugural bacta SR Exchange, taking place on 21st November 2018.

The SR Exchange has been designed by bacta to be a totally inclusive event and a leap forward in protecting vulnerable people from gambling-related harm. The event will bring together Responsible Gaming professionals, Operators and their front-line staff for a packed programme of presentations, debate and practical workshops addressing key aspects of problem gambling. GambleAware is an independent charity tasked to fund research, education and treatment services to help to reduce gambling-related harms in Great Britain. Guided by the National Responsible Gambling Strategy, the charity’s strategic aim is to broaden public understanding of gambling-related harms and to advance the cause of harm prevention and to help those that do develop problems get the support that they need quickly and effectively. Kate works as an independent consultant undertaking investigations and advising organisations on management and service effectiveness and development. She led the NHS investigations into Jimmy Savile, and produced a report for the Secretary of State for Health setting out the lessons for today’s health service. She was commissioned by the board of Serco Plc to investigate the treatment of residents at Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre. Previously Kate spent 13 years as a practising barrister before moving into the public sector where she held a number of non-executive appointments. Kate has been the chair of the South East Coast Strategic Health Authority, vice chair of the South of England Strategic Health Authority and a non-executive director and vice chair of the Financial Ombudsman Service Limited. She acted as interim chair of the Independent Advisory Panel on Deaths in Custody. Kate is the lead non-executive director on the Department of Health Board as well as being a trustee of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the Royal Horticultural Society. Kate was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2015 New Year Honours for services to the National Health Service and to the community in Kent. It is anticipated that the bacta SR Exchange will prove to be a landmark event, attracting a wide range of professionals from within the industry.
