CommissioneEuropea2Following the publication of the Communication on online gambling, the European Commission Unit responsible for gambling confirmed that it is now processing gambling related complaints through the so-called "EU Pilot" scheme. The scheme, which is designed to facilitate communication and problem-solving between the Commission and Member State authorities before formal infringement proceedings are launched, sets a 20 week deadline for responses to be provided, giving both the Member State authorities and the Commission each 10 weeks for evaluation prior to the Commission's decision.
The Commission confirmed that 9 infringement proceedings against, amongst others, Greece, France, Sweden, German and Italy, had been placed on hold since 2008 and would now be restarted.  They also confirmed that 28 new complaints against 12 Member States had been received during that time and would now be evaluated.
